How does it work?
At Refreshingly New, we use a diode laser—the gold standard for hair removal—equipped with a sapphire cooling tip to ensure maximum comfort during treatment.
This advanced laser safely and effectively treats all skin and hair types in any area of the body. The absorbed light heats the hair, damaging and destroying the follicle’s regrowth potential without harming the surrounding tissue.
Many patients report experiencing less pain during our treatments compared to other types of lasers.
Since the laser only affects hair follicles in active growth, sessions must be staggered over months to ensure the destruction of as many follicles as possible. The length of your session and the number of sessions you need will depend on the areas being treated, which we can discuss during your consultation.
As an added bonus, you can combine treatment of multiple areas to receive additional discounts!
The Diode laser used at Refreshingly New has a cooling sapphire tip that helps minimize any pain!
How long does Laser Hair Reduction take?
Treatment time depends on the size of the areas being treated.
Treating the upper lip or armpits may take a few minutes, while in large regions
such as the back or legs, your treatment might last an hour.
Is Laser Hair Reduction Permanent?
Hair removal is not 100% permanent, as hormones play a vital role in the presence and growth cycles of hair.
Hormone replacement therapy, pregnancy, and PCOS can affect your results.
An 85% reduction in hair is considered a successful laser hair removal series!
To ensure results are maintained, we recommend having a yearly touch-up session following the completion of a series. Any regrowth is usually lighter in color and density.
Hair that has been dormant for years and starts to grow will need to be treated.
How should I prepare for Laser Hair Reduction?
You should prepare in the following ways:
What is after care like after Laser Hair Reduction?
To avoid burning, we recommend everyone use a mineral-based sunscreen on treated areas and
avoid tanning beds, sun lamps, or other indoor tanning equipment for two weeks.
Is there downtime?
Laser hair removal generally does not require any downtime.
After treatment, your skin could be sensitive and irritated, similar to razor burn.
Despite this, most people can resume their normal routines, including exercise.
When will I see results?
You will begin to see hair fall out in approximately 1-3 weeks post-treatment.
Laser hair removal can only damage hair in its active growth stage.
After your initial treatment, you will likely notice hair growing back thinner and slower.
Multiple treatments (generally six) are recommended for an 85% reduction in hair growth.
What ares can we target with Laser Hair Reduction?
The Diode laser does a good job at targeting terminal, or thick, hair. It does not reduce Vellus, or thin, hair.
